Potty Training

Well we did it! Potty training! Back in April I started to potty train Raegan in hopes that she would catch on quick, which she did, but then we both got very sick and I was tired of cleaning up yucky Diarea mess and decided to hold off for a while. I just hoped that I had done enough for Raegan to be thinking about it for the next time we tried again.... well One of my friends asked me to post some of the ideas that I did back in April....

The first thing I did was have Raegan teach her doll how to go potty... this helped me know that she knew the process of going to the bathroom. We would take her doll to the bathroom and Raegan would pretend that her doll would go. We only did this for one day. The next day I let Raegan pick out a toilet. she thought that was fun. She picked out a Winnie the pooh one.

The first day of real training.

decorate the bathroom in party stuff to make if fun and an exciting place.

I made a princess note pad for her to color on while we were spending lots of time in the bathroom.
Germs... I don't need to say any more...(and Raegan loves to wash her hands!)

We made shakers out of toilet paper rolls. I covered the ends with tape and then filled them with rice. I wrapped paper around the roll and then used scrapbook embellishments and letters that spelled out the word POO... ribbon was used for the top. After each time she went potty in the toilet we would have a "POO-RADE" and march around the house...

but what really happened was I danced around looking like a nerd and Raegan just looked at me like I was stupid. She is so funny.

I had a cute smiley face timer that I would set for 15 min. Every time it went off she had to sit on the toilet. when she would go I would let her have a sippy of juice. I wanted her to drink a lot so that she had to go to the bathroom a lot. The more they feel like they need to go the faster they will learn how to go. Especially since I was intently thinking about it.

Anyways.... the story goes.... so we stopped training because she just wasn't as into as I thought she would be and she got very sick.

Well... about 3 weeks ago i decided that I was so sick of changing 2 kids diapers. I told Raegan that she couldn't where Diapers anymore because if she wanted to be a princess than she needed to wear panties. Well.. it worked All I had to say was if you are a big girl princess and you go potty, then we can go to Lagoon..... So the other day we Finely took her to Lagoon! What a big girl.

The funny thing is I just had to let her do it the way she wanted. Sometimes I feel like she thinks she is to cool for all of my cute ideas.... but who am I kidding. She's 2 :)

She still has small accidence every once in a while but she is doing awesome! Its way better than changing diapers 100 times a day!

Those were seriously the BEST ideas!! The timer is what completely worked for us. I love that you know her well enough to figure out what works and what doesn't. I would still be marching around doing the POO-rade :)

I am loving these darling ideas--thanks for the info. I am excited about potty training little Caroline since she has already showed so much interest in it--AND she can have a fun reward like a new Barbie or Polly Pocket (with Bentley he just wanted Hot Wheels car after Hot Wheels Car--oh, and a big trip to Chuck E Cheese after a whole month without accidents :) Yay for Reagan and yay for your trip to Lagoon--it IS such a fun place!!

Way Cute Ideas! I love them! I need to probably start thinking about potty training, Ethan has brought me diapers a couple of times to change his diaper, if they are doing that I am thinking he might kinda be ready, right... I don't know anyway it doesn't hurt to try and start getting it in his head.
